Anybody watched any good movies lately ?

I have been looking for some good movies to download and I am just wondering if anybody has seen any good ones lately.

Here a few I have watched in the last few days:

The Invention of lying: Not a great comedy- Dont recommend
Moon: Great movie- Recommend
The Maiden Heist: Good crime comdey with Morgan Freeman and Christen Walken- Recommend
Up: Thought it was pretty funny- Recommend
Couples retreat- Has some big comedy actors but not enough laughs- Recommend if you have time to kill or are going to put it on in the background.
Surrogates- Action film with bruce willis. I liked the idea in the movie but did not think it was that good- Dont recommend.

Paranormal Activity. Don't think its out in cinemas yet, but I got a DVD Rip. Very good movie, if not as scary as people make out. If you can find a good copy, watch it, if not, definatly go to the cinema.

I watched Paranormal Activity with some mates last night. A lot of people were going on about how it was so scary and shit, so I decided to check it out with the original ending instead of the theatrical one. It was scary in the sense that you'll be paranoid for a few days after watching it maybe, but the film itself doesn't have any of those cheap "BOO!" scenes that you see so much in Hollywood nowadays.

I suggest people check it out if they want a decent scary film, but don't believe all the hype about it being really fucking scary. I swear the film's trailer pretty much sums up the whole film, might as well just watch the trailer and you've just seen the whole plot within a minute.

Yeah, the thetrical copy has been heavily edited, and features a different ending and different use of scenes compared to the DVD Rip floating about on the internet. Thats partly the reason that I'll be going to the cinema to watch it again. Also, I think the sound system or the DVD I was watching may have been slightly dodgy, as at the loud, "BANG" sections, intended to make you jump, the sound muffled.

I probably saw the same DVDRip as you. I actually downloaded another torrent which shows the theatrical ending, and I personally thought the original one is better as there's more closure. They're making a sequel already.

Don't see why they wouldn't want to. This one took just a week to make, with a budget of $15,000. As of yesterday, its made $84,780,000. Its now the most profitable film ever.

Oh yeah I also saw Moon, thought it was a pretty sweet movie except the ending.

Ok I am downloading Paranormal Activity and Public enemies as I have heard good things. I also want to see how this 15 grand movie is making so much money.

I have heard good things about the The Pianist will add that to the list as well.

Last Night I watched Good Morning Vietnam which is a awesome movie.

Some of the movies you mentioned grim i havn't even heard of. I'll need to broaden my range before i go for my film studies uni interview..

well the only movie i've watched recently was Saw 6, just for shits and giggles when people explode into gore.

George, is Good Morning Vietnam the one about the guy who has a radio show on a military base? I think it had Robin Williams in it. That is indeed a good film but I can barely remember anything about the plot since it was so long ago.

Yea that is the one. He gets in radio show and trys to play rock instead of old classics and falls in love with some vietnamese(sp) girl.

I watched The Mist last night. A very good film I thought, I would highly recommend it.

This morning in a lecture we watched distant voices, still lives which was good form a film studies point of view but not sure I would recommend it as entertainment was quite depressing, was about domestic abuse.

Dark if you are going to broaden your range I would not watch those movies I listed above. Other than moon they are all just hollywood blockbusters not great to watch from a film students point of view, just for entertainment.

Yeah Michael, you want to check out some of the film's from the various festivals around the world. Thats where you'll find the smaller budget, but still great films.

I just watched The Men Who Stare At Goats and i found it pretty good. It was funny to me (but it's a very specific tase of humour) and i noticed all of the implicit analogys of the Iraq War that i think alot of people who have reviewed this have mis-placed. Some site gave this a 0/100 because they didn't understand the story - i really don't get that at all, the story made perfect sense to me. Definitly doesn't deserve the bad metacritic score but, i think this is a movie for people with specific tastes. Still, i thought it was funny and if you like watching george clooney, kevin spacey, eawen magregger etc and you often get high on LSD, this will be fun for you.

I watched a film called Good Will Hunting the other week, starring MAAAATTT DAMOOONNN and Robin Williams. Williams receieved an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Pretty good movie if you haven't seen it.

Just saw Zombieland. Was not great all the funny bits are in the trailer. No where near as good as Shawn of the Dead.
