    Oh baby!

According to Kotaku, AC5 will be featuring "'mayhem' mechanical action". Looks like it's going to be more fast paced than the previous installments, as well as featuring "new weapons, more robust and dramatic mission stories and stages that are more detailed and complex than the previous titles."

The mechs are also going be half the size, standing at 5 meters rather than the previous 10 meters.

You can check the Famitsu magazine scan out here.

To be honest I rather hope that AC5 will go back towards the older AC games, rather than the ridiculos speed of AC4/FA, I much prefer the slower tactical mech games that the series used to be. Ahh well either way the Mechwarrior game is on it's way!

Yeah, but the reduced size of the mech's suggest that they are going to be faster and more agile.

I agree with diablo while I like AC4/FA I much prefer the slower tactical mech games such as Mechwarrior or chromehounds.
I think I will keep an eye on the new Mechwarrior game rather than this.

Not sure I've seen anything of Mechwarrior, I'll check it out.

But yeah, Chromehounds was the better of mech games i've played, shame no-one plays it anymore.

So far everything sounds great to me! The visual style is still the way I like it, I love how fast-paced the series has become because it makes it stand out from other mecha titles, the size reduction is cool because I now they are more like armoured suits which I'm neutral to, it doesn't bother me. They're going to improve the main complaints people had, such as bland maps and hopefully fix the net code up too. I am pre-ordering this as soon as it's available.

I'm not a big fan of slow and clunky mechs, I can't stand the visual design of western mechs personally. MechWarrior isn't a series I've ever really had an interest in, I used to own one of the games but I lost interest due to the unappealing mech designs. When it's fast-paced like this, you really feel like you're piloting one a Gundam as you destroy tanks and helicopters in singleplayer as if they were nothing but insects. Armored Core does an excellent job of making you feel like you're in control of a Gundam/Orbital Frame/Arm Slave/etc.

The game was officially announced today, and with it proper images, not the blurr scans from the Famitsu article.

The game is only 20% complete or something, so looks like I'm going to be waiting at least six months for this baby to be released. As with all Armored Core screenshots, these do nothing to give you any real idea about the game, though some of those back weapons look massive compared to the mechs. :|

Trailer doesn't say much except constantly remind us it's AC5. The only thing that caught my eye was how ridiculously massive their weapons seem to be. Oh, and how the mech transforms as well, that's probably going to be some kind of new gameplay feature.

Never, ever played any of these - can someone describe the gameplay and why they would recommend it?

It's a Japanese mecha combat game, which has a very niche but hardcore following around the world. It's very similar to Konami's Zone of the Enders series in terms of gameplay, assuming you've played that. It's made by FROM Software, the same blokes who created Chromehounds.

I doubt you will like this game unless you're a fan of Japanese mecha Rob, it's designed specifically to excite those of us who enjoy mecha in anime/manga and want to take that love to a more interactive level. The game's main focus is to customise your very own mechs and then use your designs in story mode or online multiplayer.

Here are a couple of online 1 vs. 1 matches of me and Grim playing Armored Core For Answer on the 360. You will probably fine these boring to watch, since AC games are rather boring to spectate, even for me.

ZOTE and wanted that Stelle Battalion game having played it at Game On some years ago but since those days never played anything like it.

BTW I love anything to do with Mech/Robots - should see some of my sketchbook scribbles dudes!

I posted one on my site called yellow ghost although it does not look much like a robot.

For anyone interested here it is: http://pixelspencil.com/v1/2010/02/06/illustration-yellow-ghost/

Also some of you Mech fans might want to check an articst called Mr Jago - I love his stuff!

It's hard to say really, the series has changed quite a bit over time. It was extremely hardcore up 'till Armored Core 4, which has a lower learning curve. I like the gameplay revisions since the mechs move much faster and it's hard finding fast-paced mech combat games. You can pick Armored Core For Answer up for very cheap these days, so it's worth picking up if you feel it's something you find interesting enough to try out. We could play a few online matches for a laugh too since me and Jamie own a copy of ACFA.
