   Before you watch it this is very graphic.

   Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on http://www.collateralmurder.com

   I just watched the video and at the moment I am lacking words to describe how I feel. I feel like vomiting, I feel disgusted. This is so fucked up.

   I feel so angry at the monsters in the gunship, their COs and the men on the ground right now. They should be tried as war criminals.

   Fascinating stuff, though can't really say I feel much hatred towards the US soldiers in this situation. When you're in an Apache, the thing you're probably most terrified of is 'insurgents' with RPGs. When they supposedly saw this group carrying AK47s and RPGs, I think it's natural that their fear of the possibility of being shot down for being too indecisive lead them to take no chance and request permission to fire upon the group.

   As for opening fire on the van that was trying to save the wounded journalist, if the soldiers believed that the group was armed insurgents then it's only natural that they assume the van is there to extract them to fight another day. However, this all stems from their unwillingness to confirm whether or not the group was armed and dangerous, regardless of the fear they had of being shot down before being able to return fire. This reason alone is why I feel they should be on trial for this event, because "it was an accident" isn't a get out of jail free card... well actually, it is when you're in a warzone, this isn't the first or last time this has happened in Iraq, it's just the first time the public got somewhat solid evidence that it's happening.

   Oh yeah, my favourite part is when they quote that guy in the NYT or WP about how their Bradleys couldn't get through because they didn't want to run over all the corpses. Then you see the video footage and the guys says something like "LOL I think I just squished a body." I actually laughed at how fail that moment was.

   i agree with nemphhis this aint the first time, this is porbably the 100 time something like this happens. Thing is american soldiers mind are so fucked up. They want to kill peopel just becuse they "think" they are insurgents. I gotta admit that when the guy said the first time there is a guy with an rpg if you look it kind looks like one. BUT, thing is no one else in the group has any weapons, nad they are absolutly not looking hostile.

   I understand why americans get's away with this, it happens to ofthen. Something like this could, but it would be VERY VERY RARE swedish soldiers would do something like this. Holy shit i mean for a swedish soldier to open fire is a huge thing. If a hostile or swedish soldier dies/get wounded it's all over the newpapers. Hell they would probably tell if a shot were fired in afghanistan.
