So, much to my happyness, i got Fallout 3 a day early on thursday, which actually made up for the fact that i couldn't play it at all Saturday. And so far i'm having a blast with it, that first bit in the vault when you break free made me jump out of my seat when i found out literally anyone can be targeted with VATS - and so cause i was playing an evil character and my melee/strength skills were really high, i just ran through the vault and fucking killed everyone with my baseball bat. Especially the overseer, ESPECIALLY that Butch guy or w/e his name is
Butch: Please! Come save my mum from the roaches!
Me: Okay *Walks up to him* *Enters VATS* *Baseball bats his head of*
Me: *Walks into where his mum is* *Baseball bats his mums leg of*
and ESPECIALLY the romantic couple that were trying to escape with me. HAHAHA FUCKING DIE DIE DIE DIE..
And then when i finally walked out into the world.. and i got this feeling that i can GO ANYWHERE.. DO ANYTHING.. man it was such an awesome feeling. And although the map size may be smaller than oblivions, and there might be less quests, there's certainly more interesting areas to explore and more random events. And you're rewarded with exploration too which is cool.
Anyway who else has it?

Yea I have been having a blast with it.
My first character sort of sucked as I made it like my first character in Oblivion. So high on sneak,lockpicking and melee weapons. I found I could sneak up on anybody in the vault and I had to nail that overseer as he killed my friend. But once I was out in the world I found sneak sucked as I could not sneak up on any of the Raiders. To be good at sneak I needed to get the ninja and silent running skills which you dont get till much later.
So I made a new character- He is big on science, energy weapons, explosives and big guns. I am not playing as good or evil, I am playing like I would if this was real life. So I help the characters I like and fuck up the ones that annoy me. I saved Butch's mum as even though he was a dick I could not let his mum die.
Only lvl 7 or something and have a great time just exploring only really done the survival guide missions. Killed a bunch of Super Mutants and got there flamer and Minigun which are the only guns I use now, really trying to find some more energy weapons. The Mininuke launcher is cool but I only have 3 shots with it, so saving it till later. Need to find some more armour I am only using the vault suit that girl gave me and a helmet I found on a vault guard. The raiders armour suck.
My only problem is that the trader in megaton has no more caps so I cant sell anything to her anymore. I have just over 1000 caps but that rock-it launcher costs so much.
Its not where near as good as fallout 1 but still good

Im thinking of buying this, might might save my money for gears of war 2 this week.....Or buy both!!

I'll have to get this for Christmas, the only games i'm gonna be buying before then are GoW2 and CODWAW. The rest will be spent on clothes. I haven't looked at it enough to make it a must have game, atm its just one that i'd like to play, much like Far Cry 2.
Also whats with all the games begining in F? I keep getting confused with them.

Tbh i am playing like i would in real life.. and that involves EXTERMINATING everyone!
At the moment my main character (level 13 i think) is focused on Melee (Already max'd to 100) and explosives and big guns (both around 70ish) it's sort've difficult though because there's not that many good melee weapons, bar the Shishkebab which i recently aquired after killing this vampire guy who had it. Although using Frag Grenades is awesome. And for things like the automatic sleghammer, you need alot of action points to use them well and i don't really have alot.
But i'm already planning my next characters, i think my second will be a good guy focused around science and small arms, and i'll get all those perks that increase accuracy in VATS. I really found with my first guy that having a low science + lockpick + repair skill sucked, as they do become essential in some areas. So this guy will be a good science and repair guy, whilst ..
my 3rd character, will be how you made your first, sneaky + lockpicking, but i'll also give him a really high charisma, as it's been said in numerous reviews that some quests and fights can be entirely bypassed by using a bit of charm... with a high lockpick and charm i'll be reaping in alot more benefits than usual, even if my combat isn't that good..

Yea my character has a high science and Repair skill. Repair saves me alot of money as it costs tons for people to repair your weapons. I really need to find another minigun as my one is about to break. High Science really helped me when I was in the Robot factory.
If your sneak is high and you get the ninja and silent running , then your combat does not have to be great as you can get those large sneak bonuses. Also get the sandman perk as they really helps at night.

Also apparently theres a hax where you can repeatedly use the Sandman perk to kill children in their bed for extra XP.
But of course, as children can't be killed in the game, you can repeatedly do it and get lots of XP.

New patch is out, so go get it.
After being of today and yesterday with a variety of AIDs/Rabies/Man Flue/Infections, i've finally gotten into the game. Can't remember what the perk is, but it gives you extra damage, and makes the enemy explode when you kill them, pretty sick. Think i'm level 6, almost 7 now. Just playing it as me and haven't really been thinking about where to stick my skills.
