Games Day tickets are now on sale for White Dwarf Subscribers, and will be on general sale at the end of May, and this is the mini for this year.

Anyone else planning on attending this year?

Its always either 40k SM model or a WFB Chaos model.

Dont think I will be going, it seems to have gone down hill in the last few years. I never really saw the point in it.
I suppose you could see new models but then last year there where no new models and if you do see any they will be on the internet in a day.
You can buy forgeworld stuff and not have to wait but then when every I buy forgeworld I only have to wait a normal amount of time(3-7 days) to get it.
Maybe I am missing the point but it seems like a lot for not much.

I imagine there are tables there to actually play some Warhammer, seeing as the event is called Games Day? If so, the point of it is probably just to get together with fellow Warhammer enthusiasts in a big gathering and geek out. I'm mostly with George though, if I wasn't going to play some games, I don't see much point in going at all.

There are a few tables but most are used for massive games. You dont go to gamesday to just play a few games. You just go to look at all the pretty displays and models.
From the pictures I see there does not look like much room for normal games tables. But I could be wrong as I have never been.
Also it would be better to just go to warhammer world on a different day when its free :)

There are lots of large scale games, all heavily themed and covered in Titans and other Superheavies. There was also a small tournament last year I think, and there were lots of tables set up for open gaming. The main draw for me however is the chance to meet and chat with the writers and sculpturs that make the stuff we love. Also Golden Daemon is really damn cool.

GW have made a new rule for gamesday 2010 saying all participation games must be based on there Realms of battle boards. This means that nearly every club wont be holding a participation game. They where the people that ran the large scale games and the heavily themed tables. They have also banned all games other than W40k and WFB.

There will still be some games but most clubs I know wont be going due to having to drop 150 on a realm of battle board. Also it will suck with most of the boards looking the same.

Wow, GW seem to be getting more and more dickish. The RoB board is a cool idea, it allows people with more money than time to buy a fairly detiled board rather than make one, but forcing the people who are trying to promote your game to spend large quantites of money on them seems bullshit. Same goes for banning other games, Epic, Blowd Bowl, BFG,they are still their god-damn games! I'm not super surprised though, they stopped Fantasy Flight Games from selling their WF or 40K RPGs there as well. I did get to flick though the first copy of Rogue Trader in the country though.
