So, in an effort to get some discussion, we may as well talk about the game that is quite the most anticipated in a long time. I'm realllllyyyy exited about this game, even though i won't get it till next month. I just love the features they've added, it seems a lot more deep than previous GTA games.

I didn't pre-order it unfortunately so I'm going to have to wait until it gets re-stocked everywhere before I buy it. I hope you've all done the research on GTA4's online multiplayer components, I think Zetzio's going to have a huge blast on this game, especially Cops & Crooks. I suggest everyone registers at the Rockstar Social Club (https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/) for leaderboards and tournaments once the game's released. I have to say, this game is going to be seriously fucking epic if Rockstar keeps all their promises, and based on all the previews I've read, it seems they will be.

Oh, and I edited the topic title to display the game's full name (it makes it easier when doing a search on the topic later on).

The MP sounds epic. I've read a few previews of it, and it does sound absolutly ace. At least it'll give something else to do after i reach that inevitable mission i get stuck at, give up on the story mode, then blow shit up for an hour.

I'll most likely rent it out when it comes out, just because i won't be able to be patient enough to leave it.

Apparently Ricky Gervais is lending his voice and character to GTAIV. I like the comedy club idea Rockstar is using, hopefully it won't get predictable after you see them for the first time. I wonder if people who dislike Ricky can just shoot him in the face during his performance? :D

I've not preordered it either, but I'm sure I'll be able to get my hands on it one way or another.

I got it pre-ordered from Play.com just because it saves me £10 also town is a bit of a misson at Uni as I have lectures all day so its easier to just get it set to me. Glad I only have 4 hours on Tuesday of work because I am going to be playing it all day.

The game shop across my house has broken the release date and they've been selling 360 and PS3 copies all day. Unfortunately I blew all my cash on Guitar Hero III so I didn't have the £50 they demanded on me. Am I pissed/excited? Not really, got way too many awesome games to play already. :D

This game in terms of MP, in my mind will be the best ever. And that's mainly due to the 'Free mode' option in online. It's the whole amazing GTA experience you get playing the singleplayer by yourself.. BUT with 15 other friends! Nothing could be more amazing.

And yeah i pre-ordered mine of amazon, express delivery, so should come on the tuesday before 1pm. Oh and also, IGN gave this game a 10/10. I know sites liek IGN usually just throw about big scores to all the big games, but even 10/10 is big for them. Gears, halo, etc all didnt get 10/10. This game must really be something amazing.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure even Edge will give it a 10/10. Let's look at the facts here; Rockstar made a lot of promises, people played the previews and stated Rockstar kept those promises. GTAIV is 100% guaranteed to be the GOTY of 2008. Also, I'm dying to do the one thing I've always wanted to do in San Andreas -- a drive-by with Zetzio against a rival team. Would have been funny if Reckless was still around to shout out his London slang as well.

Every Game I have Pre-ordered form Play.com has come a day early but I dont think I will get GTA IV early due to it coming out on a Tuesday and the weekend fucks up posting.

MP should be fun 16 players I read the MP preview and there are some fun game modes like Crooks and Cops and Mafia Works but I did not see anything about Free mode even the free for all and Team Deathmatch where in smaller parts of the city so you dont just get lost.

Hope there is a free roam mode online.

Yeah there's loads of game modes so what you read grim was probably just a few of the first ones, but i read an article on ign the other day and there definatly is a FREE MODE with the entire city to explore with your mates. Infact, i found the article - here it is.

    Quote:
    Free Mode

As much as we've loved Cops 'n' Crooks, Free Mode is going to be the bread and butter of GTA IV multiplayer. Here's the deal: Up to 16 players can run around Liberty City doing whatever they want. Create your own game modes, hunt for Easter eggs, work together to survive a six-star wanted level -- if you can dream it, there's probably a way to do it. And this mode begins in the most unusual, jarring way.

You begin in a standoff with the other players. Everyone spawns in a circle and there is, at least the first time you play Free Mode, a brief moment of surprise when no one does a damn thing. This lasts a few seconds before someone takes out a gun and shoots their neighbor in the face. But this standoff isn't just to start the killing (and jump people around the city with their first respawn); it also allows players to talk about what they want to do in Free Mode. This way you don't have to hunt for anyone in order to discuss plans to take a bus caravan down to Star Junction or to agree that there will be a knife fight atop the Algonquin Bridge. Or you can just blow each other up. It's Free Mode -- do whatever the hell you want.

As with the other MP modes, the host has plenty of options to customize the experience, from setting the level of traffic, to turning cops on or off, to the time of day, to weapons available and so much more. This also includes setting a time limit if you don't want Free Mode to last forever.

Free Mode taps into the very essence of the GTA series. As much as we may love the single-player narrative, the core game is still the open city ready to be explored. Part of enjoying a GTA game is spending dozens of hours racing around the city, causing trouble and hunting for Easter eggs. Now you can do it with 15 of your closest friends. No longer do you need to nudge your buddy and say, "You looked up the Statue of Happiness' skirt yet?" Now you can pick him up in a chopper and show him what you're going on about.

At first, people will be content to run around the city destroying one another. But over time, games will emerge from these online jam sessions. Take a few people to the top of Playboy X's pad and try to defend it from the rest of the group; play a game of "Quell the Riot" where one person hops into a fire truck and uses the fire hose to keep back a crowd armed only with baseball bats; or make your own version of "America's Most Wanted," which has everyone acquire a six-star wanted level and see who can make it to the other end of Liberty City without dying.

There are many possibilities for Free Mode. It's wide open. You decide how to approach it.

Oh, and if you've been starving for some actual gameplay footage - here's the video review... oh my god the graphics look awesome!

Well I just got a slip from the my Halls post room saying I have a parcel not sure if its GTA IV or not but I have not ordered anything else so it should be. Cant go pick it up till tomorrow due to the post room closing at 9 and I am about to go out and get drunk. But I have no lectures tomorrow so going to have a full day of GTA. If Live is working (Only works some days at Uni due to the gay firewall ) I will love to play some DM or TDM but not till I have a go on the SP.

Well i got it and its good so far. Car handling is the worst in the series so far though, same with bikes + player movement.. but still a great game so far.

I heard that they tried to make vehicles more realistic so using the brakes doesn't automatically turn you into a Japanese drifting master or pro street racer. It's easy to forget that the cars you steal in Liberty City aren't pimped up street racing vehicles, they're just some salary man's lame ass car, so it handles just as lame.

Yeah i agree with nemph about the cards; and actually after time you do get used to it and some of the better speed-cars do handle better.. and the bikes handle just like they would in MOTOGP, awesome once you get used to it.

And the online mode is great - you should try it out grim. I'm playing with my school friends and within a total of 5 hours playing it together we've already created enough fun memories from all our time on cod4/halo3.

As soon as I stop being poor like Kenny from South Park, I'll pick it up.

I'm not overly fond of it to be honest. It's an improvement, and a good addition to the franchise, but the overall dusty, murky, hazy look of the game and the lame camera angles just ruin it for me.

You know you can change the camera angle with the select button? There's a wide variety of choices. And i also agree the game doesn't look great - but that's because i don't have a HDTV. All the videos i've seen with one, look fantastic. And the explosions are alot of fun to watch. Still though, whilst i love the game, i agree that i don't think it will carry me past the summer as everyone suspects.. there will have to be a great summer game (come on Fallout 3) to pick me back up..

I have a high definition display, it still doesn't look amazing.

And yes, I know you can change the camera, but they've gone with the Gears of War-style offset camera, which is quite irritating. They've also removed the camera that sits right at the front of the car.

I was getting some disc read errors on my game yesterday, but when I took it to the game shop they couldn't find any problems. Played more of it today and no issues for some reason, how random. I'm enjoying the game so far though, pretty much gotten used to the new car handling but haven't tried the multiplayer yet.
