That vid made justifies my preorder. Forge in reach will be insane.
Also, in before someone says this is still basic compared to X game. I'm willing to bet that X game is on PC so that's normal, but seeing this on a console game is impressive to me. Then again, I remember one of the Unreal games on PS3 had a map editor, but I've never used it so not sure how good it is.
The Farcry series on consoles had a fairly advanced editor, including control over the land, but to be honest, Forge in H3 gave people plenty of freedom to make some really great maps. Reach's will give even more freedom, so I don't see much of an issue of not having control over the ground geometry really.
That's right, I recall FarCry showing off their map creation tools before the game came out. I still haven't played my copy of FarCry 2. Unreal's map editor for the consoles got a lot of attention since people were rendering Master Chief and other video game characters as playable models.
I think Bungie put a lot of thought into Forge and some people may not realise just how much thought. I'm sure Forge is not a hardcore map editor's #1 choice for creating new maps. It doesn't provide certain customisation options that others may offer, however what Forge does do well is make map editing FUN, kind of a game of its very own. Your friends can join in, you can drop shit on them, it really reminds me of an actual sandbox where kids create shit with sand whilst fucking about at the same time.
Can't wait to see what kind of competitive maps the MLG scene creates. :D
