How often do you actually play Warhammer?

So it goes without saying that a lot of us are into Warhammer, we update each other on what we're painting, what new models we picked up and so on. However, I rarely see anyone talking about battle reports or any actual battles they took part in, unless it involved Vassal.

That made me curious to know, how often does everyone here actually play Warhammer? I have never played a game of Warhammer that wasn't on Vassal, except for the Zetzio meetup which was my first real experience of playing the game on an actual table. Oh wait, and that time me and Michael met up at Games Workshop and there was someone else with us too, but I forget who.

Anyway, spill it.

Eh, I play mabey once, twice a month on vassel. Mainley this stems from the closest place to play being 25 odd miles away, and not having my army completley built.

I have a GW quite close, I just don't go because my army isn't complete and plus I don't want to go alone, so would need someone like Michael or George to come with me to make it worth my while.

There used to be a games store 5 mins walk from my house. Sods law however had it closing as I started my Tau.

Lets see I use to play about 2 games a week then I took a 5 year gap till I went to uni.
I played about two or four times a month when I am home from uni.

My biggest problem is I cant field any unit that is not painted and finished. Its just me but I only like to play wih a fully painted army. This limits my options a bit, so this summer I played maybe 3-5 games at the start with my CSM but due to there dull codex I become bored. I also dislike playing at the local GW, I remember one game I Had at the start of summer where I blow up a kids landraider second turn then destroyed his honor guard and captain with plasma cannons, so in one turn he has lost 300-400 points, he then quit. I had another game against a kid who did finish the game but complained the whole game how cheesy my list was.
So I have looked at going to a proper gaming club in clapham that meet once a week, but to do that I need 1750. So this summer I worked on my orks and a bit on my IG. TBH did not paint much this summer.
So hopefuly once my orks are done I will get more games in, I tend to find the modeling and painting more fun than playing.

The manga club I am a member of has begun expanding into a gaming, anime and Warhammer club also. The librarian in charge got a £1000 budget to buy Warhammer products for those who don't have their own armies, and he's going to sign it up with Games Workshop as an official Warhammer club so it should help other local enthusiasts to locate us.

I'm planning to become a volunteer for there since helping expand a club that promotes the meeting of nerds that participate in all my main hobbies is a great thing to be involved in. I'd love to see the Londoners from Zetzio attend our growing club in the future, that way we don't have to deal with the little kids at Games Workshop.

i actually have tried to start playing warhammer 40K. i even have a small army of tyranids. however i have lost hope becuse im more into playing the game then painting. and i paint so bad and my friend who tries to teach me even says how bad i paint in a bad way and so on. so i never really started. However those few times i have played it was REALLY funny!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you Chris, I enjoy playing the game but painting isn't really for me. For example I tried doing some highlighting but the highlight strokes turned out to be too thick,
