Just checked my emails and saw this. GW are releasing 15 metal models for Legion of the Damned. LOTD are a elite choice in C:SM, I have never seen a list that uses them but they do have a 3++ save and can deepstrike but they cost quite a bit. I am going to use them as my Death Company for my Flesh tearers. The models are coming out in early januray 2010.

These guys look like normal Space Marines to me in terms of appearance. Wouldn't it be easy to just convert some SM units into this Elite unit?

Yea I think it would be. All I think you would need is some skulls and bones from the WFB skeleton box.
I am hoping the sarge model will be more detailed.

You can get LOTD space marine armies anyway i think; there was a Chapter Approved made for them somewhere down the line i think.

Yea there was but as you know or should now all chapter approved articles are now illegal so cant be used in normal games which suck as flesh tearers had awesome CA rules.
Also yes you can get LOD the normally they are a elite choice in the new 5th SM codex.

Holy shit are you serious? So that means my Relictors are now illegal?
wow i'm glad i stopped painting/building anything for that army ages ago or else that would have all been for nothing. No way i'm gonna bother re-painting those guys so i might go and sell them on ebay. Could get 2-300 quid for it all as it's probably worth 600 quid in models.

By 'my relictors' i mean the rules that i used for my relictors in battle; that were that allowed me to have a daemon weapon for my commander and a daemonic artifact. I had always been told before that the rules (which i'd photocopied of a White Dwarf CA article i think) were legal in tournements as long as i had them and a CSM book which contained the rules for demon weapons. But this was 5 years ago so i suppose what you said confirms that i can't use them anymore. Sucks man, gonna have to sell 'em like i said and just focus on my tyranids for now.

yea its sad but you relictors are just normal marines now with out any fancy chaos weapons. The only thing Legal in tournements now are the codexs and the Blood angels PDF codex. But with friends I am sure people would not mind. I wish I could find the old IA article for my flesh tearers and that it was legal, I could change all my sarges into Death Company on a roll of 4+ at the start of a game.
If Selling models on ebay, it may be better to strip them of the paint. Unpainted models go for alot more. I have seen whole armies of painted SM go for next to nothing. I picked up £400 worth of Empire models for £70 just because some where painted, I also got a Space Marine predator tank for 99p because it was painted. Unless pro painted you wont even get half of what they cost you.

I suppose mine arn't pro-painted then, and ok i'll take your advice.

What's the best method to 'strip them of the paint' ? Should i simply just spray black all over them or what? I'm worried they might get so many layers that they blot out the design and look bad.

There is a product called 'Simple Green' that you can buyu of the internet. You just sit your models in it over night, and brush them down in the morning with an old toothbrush. All paint is gone.

Simple Green will have to be imported from the states, cillet bang does a very good job so I'm told.

Yup, after reading around many forums, it seems to be the best product in the UK that isn't toxic and won't damage your models.

Does it work with plastic as well as I have heard some melt plastic. I just won 5 assault marines for £2.19 but they are covered in yellow paint which needs to come off.

Indeed it does. Again, I've not used it myself but everything I've read says it won't do anything to plastic, metal or resin models, leave 'em in there a day a week or a month and they'll be fine.

ok cool will test it out, if it melts them its only £2 wasted. This person must have painted his models by dipping them in the paint pot.

The rest of these models have come up on GW advance order page. They would make great salamander sternguard. They would also fit into a Mortifactors army very nicely. I pre-ordered the 5 man box as I have a 5 man squad with PW plus flamer that ride a razorback with my HQ and these would fit great.

In that first image, the guy in the top right looks like he's using his gun as an air guitar. Also, the one with the skull helmet looks pretty badass, though if I painted it then that would not have been the case.
