I'm considering buying an iPhone without a contract so does anyone know any websites that have a good deal on a legit iPhone which is SIM free? There's still a while for my contract with Orange to finish and I get a good deal with them so I want the phone and not a crappy contract with O2.

Sweet, not only did I just cancel my 18 month Orange contract early without suffering any penalty for doing so, I'm going to upgrade my mum's O2 contract which finishes this month so I get an iPhone 3Gs contract with a discount for being a long time customer. I also learned some great things from the Orange reps who I spoke to, the guys were very cool about me cancelling.

Anything you can share?
Don't forget O2 are losing exclusivity of the iPhone in the coming months...

Orange is getting the iPhone 3G this September, but the 3GS remains an O2 exclusive.

Ah, yeah. You're right. Still, the 3GS isn't massively more powerful.

If I'm upgrading my phone and I have to use it for 18 months, I'd rather have the 3GS which gives me longer battery life, video recording and quicker load times on applications than get the 3G.
The only thing I may regret is that my tariff was great on Orange, I paid £20 a month for unlimited data usage and SMS messaging, plus I had 400 minutes of talk time for free, which I never used up. I also got my BlackBerry Curve for free with it. Since I'm upgrading my mum's 18 month contact, I'm hoping they do a similar deal for me, even if it means I have to pay a little for the iPhone 3GS.
The only reason I'd want the 3G at this point would be if O2 was notorious for being shit, which I've not heard any complaints about on a large scale. All carriers are shit to some extent, and I've not heard O2 customers hating on the carrier like AT&T customers in the USA constantly do.

I'm quite fond of O2 to be honest - I've been with them for 9 years or so.

Good to know, because Orange were quite nice so I don't want my carrier to feel like a downgrade.

Yeah. Although, obviously as I've been with O2 for 9 years I don't really have anything to compare them against. Decent network coverage, as they have all of the old cellnet towers and everything.

Fuck son, if I was with a carrier for nine years, I would be asking for so many extra benefits. They usually make your monthly bill like £10 cheaper each year, so if you've been with them for nine years you might as well just ask to get everything free! :P

I've not been a contract user for that long, as 9 years ago I was 11, and obviously not entitled to a phone contract. I was a pay & go customer up until last September, when I got my iPhone.
