Well now we're within the month of release, it's time to kick off with this topic. As i know quite alot of us were fans of ME1, this is surely going to be a must buy for us all at the end of the month.
I'm not going to bother too much with information on the game, as you can go to any other game site to find out all the quick and relevant facts. Just as a quick highlight, the main thing being said is that it does address all of the problems people had with the first - the combat is alot more accessible and fun, all of the framerate/bug/ai issues have been almost completely fixed, and everything else has been vastly improved. The game is said to be twice the size in content/length, you'll have 10/9 squadmates this time around and the best news is that all of them can die . This is because the main plot of ME2 is joining forces with the hidden antagonists in the first game (Cerberus - a pro-human group trying to make the universe for humans only etc.) to go on a 'suicide' mission to save the galaxy from the main threat from the first game - the reapers. The main quest is basically recruiting all the characters, and then going into the final mission where it is possible that with the decisions you've made during the game, all of the characters including yourself can die. So you'll be re-playing it to try and get all the different endings. Some fail reviewer in OXM said he didn't like the main story (whilst giving the game 9.5/10 anyway) when it was later revealed that this was because he got the bad end where everyone in his team died. Fag.
And of course, the best thing coming out of Mass Effect 2 is the fact that you'll be able to import your character saves from Mass Effect 1 into the game - so you can play as the same character who completed the main story in ME1 and all your experiences in ME1 will be continously brought up in ME2. Infact the designers have actually said that two ME2 playthroughs might play out entirely different based on the choices that character you chose made in ME1. For a short explanation on how it works - basically whenever you complete the main story of ME1, a special 'end game save' is created in your hardrive, that isn't like a normal save. To see these end game saves, go to New Game in ME1 and choose 'select existing profile' which is what you would normally do to be able to re-play the game through with a character you completed it with already. All of the saves you can see from that screen are the saves you'll be able to import into ME2. So if you don't see that much.. time to get playing ME1 again before no.2 comes out.
Here's some tips if you decide to do so -
In ME2 your character will recieve a bonus if you imported him over with...
Level 60 Experience
1million credits (this is recognised by an achievement)
And its been said that over 50 decisions you make in ME1 will be carried over and in some way effect the world in ME2. These can range from small decisions such as If you decided to be mean or kind to the annoying fan named Conrad Verner on the citadel, or the larger decisions such as who died, and if you decided to kill the Rachni Queen etc.
So yeah, that's about all i can think of the top of my head. Now i need to make a decision -
I want to get the Collectors Edition, but there are only three online sites that have it. GAME, gameplay and play.com. I'm not going to use play.com because i just flat out don't trust them - so i have to choose between GAME and gameplay. Whilst googling it appears they both have positive reviews from people for getting games to you early. And at the moment i'm swaying towards GAME because most of the forums i've been on seem to favour it. But i know a few people here use gameplay so what's your experience been like with them? How many times have you gotten the game early?
P.s the guy in the pic is 'The Illusive Man'. He's the leader of the organization 'Cerberus'.
