Because it is a game for the PS3; i assume this is why there is not a topic over it. But anything with the words Metal Gear in them deserve a topic, regardless of how many of you ingrates will actually be playing this masterpeice.. The game is coming out this Thursday and i have already pre-ordered mine. I plan on playing and finishing it all of Thursday so i then go to Download on friday with a fresh mind :). For me, this is my next 'big game.' following the likes of Bioshock, Mass Effect, Fable, Oblivion etc. Although it's not an RPG like them, it fits that list because the main feature of this game is the emmersive storytelling and atmosphere. I just love the feel that MGS games vibrate, it's not about the gameplay for me. So i'm going to be hell'a enjoying this game on thursday when i try my 12-hour run through. Who else will?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Once I have completed this game I will round up all others who feel the same passion as me, we will then commit mass suicide because we know that everything in the future will be a dissapointment.

Haven't bothered buying a PS3 yet so probably not something I'll be getting on release. However, as someone who loves the Metal Gear Solid IP it's definitely the first game on my wish-list when I eventually join the dark side. Yoji Shinkawa's designs for every new Metal Gear Solid game is always more and more like Zone of the Enders, he's trying to mentally torture me or something.

Has anyone actully finished MGS4? And was it as good as you thought?

Yeah i finished it a while ago, although technically i wouldn't say i'd completed it untill i've got all the special easter eggs and gotten all the completion emblems like my friend has. The ending was fantastic. At first the credits came up and i was in a serious 'WTF?!' like shouting at my screen. 'Cause the ending was so cheesy and happy and then a real blow of shit with the final scene. But then an extra scene ran after the credits, and it filled in all the wholes and just made it brilliant.
However i'll have to admit, the game is very short. Once you play it through a second time and skip all the cutscenes, you realise that they make up 50% of the 20 hours it will take you to complete it. After all, one of the achievements is to complete the game with no alerts, no deaths, no health and no killing anyone, AND complete it in under 5 hours on the highest difficulty. My friends done it, so it shows how it can actually be a very short game when you put your mind to it. (Posting from a wifi laptop.)
