Looking forward to playing you on SF4 once you get your stick man. We can roll on that game like we did on COD4, should be good shit. Also, I'll show you GGPO and other programs on PC that let you play the most popular 2D fighting games for free online. These services are popular among fighting game fans as they have excellent net code, and lag is a huge deal on fighting games due to the extreme precision required.

Picked up BF:BC2 today. It was a hard choice with games like FF13 sitting there.

Haha, I've not even unwrapped my FF13 yet, or played much of BC2 because I've had this random urge to play some RTS games lately so I've mainly been playing Dawn of War II. I've signed up to a 'mentor' program on an RTS site I hang out on, where a 'pro' basically teaches you all the tricks you need to know in order to play the game well.
I picked up the complete Street Fighter IV costume pack for 1000MSP. Personally I never liked the idea of paying for new 'skins' on a game, but I spend a lot of time on SF4 and they transfer over to SSF4 so I somehow convinced myself it was a good purchase, even though it isn't.

I picked myself up the following.
PSP 3000
USB Charge/Transfer cable for the PSP
8GB card
Metal Gear Solid : Portable Ops
N+
Patapon
God of War Chains of Olympus
Resitance RetributionI plan on picking up Dissida, Crisis Core and Wipeout Pulse next week, any other games I really need to check out?

There are quite a few good games on the PSP, though not as many as the DS but still enough to make it worth your money. I could suggest a few but it's down to your preference of genres, not to mention most good PSP games are ports from the PS1.

I'm looking for good Puzzle games, RPGs, Action RPGs, Platformers, Racers and mabey a Bullet Hell game or two. And PS1 ports are cool with me, never had one myself so I'll have missed out on a lot of the classics there too.

I'll list a few based on that criteria:
Lumines (Puzzle)
Disgaea or Final Fantasy Tactics (TBS/RPG)
Daxter (Platform)
Monster Hunter (Action/RPG)Posted 1 year ago # | -
i got monster hunter on the psp and i have played for over 200 hours and still havent finished the hardest quest.

Is there a paticular iteration of Monster Hunter that I should go for? Daxter had intrested me as well, as Jak and Daxter was an impressive title.

The latest PSP instalment, but not sure which one that is any more.

As I finished Mass effect 2 I rewarded myself with another game. So I have finally picked up Bad Company 2.

My new HDTV arrived this morning. It's a Sony KDL32W4000. The input lag and response time are great and it's 1080p. Apparently it's a great choice for gamers, I hope this is true! Going to hook it up tonight when I get home from work.

Looks damn sweet. I've had no issues at all with my Sony so far, and it's a dream on my PC and 360, shame it isn't 1080p but thats more the size limit than anything else. how much did yours cost? Can't have been cheap.

Looks nice but not a fan of the bottem bit (the grey bit).So what made you buy another TV ? How big is it ?
I love my Samsung TV, I also seemed to go with Samsung for some reason. TVs arnt that much these days. My 40 somthing inch 1080p was around £500 and that got me a large discount on a set of 5:1 Surround Sounds Samsung speakers.I have never noticed any input lag or a laspe in respone time on my TV
Posted 1 year ago # | -
Input lag isn't something you'll easily notice as it's in milliseconds, but it's always there pretty much. It can be problematic in games that require very precise timing such as Street Fighter, where a link combo only has a window of input that is 1 frame. You need to take input lag into consideration, and response time too, which I think were two different things, or I'm mixing response time up with something else.
Anyway, it's unfortunately a 32", which is overkill for me since I wanted it to be a 27" as it's for my room. It cost me £600 which is a good price for a TV of this calibre, I could easily find a 32" HDTV for £300, but it would have average response time, crappy colour contrast and so on.
This new TV purchase was long overdue, and it took me this long because I am simply so lazy. My old Samsung had a line of dead pixels going horizontally from one side of the screen to the other. Fixing this would cost just as much as getting a new TV, and also I didn't have any HDMI ports on it, it achieved HD by using a DVI cable, which only provides 720p, but that's okay for a 27".
I now have my PS3 set up with HDMI and booted up Final Fantasy XIII for the first time, just to test it out. The thing looks absolutely fucking gorgeous. Only problem is that my 360 is an old model as I've had it for years, it doesn't have a HDMI port like the new Premium consoles do now. So compared to my PS3, the 360 looks crappy. It's amazing how easily you can see the difference between 720p and 1080p, it's really obvious.
So yeah, due to this, I'm thinking about grabbing an Xbox 360 Elite tomorrow on my way back home. They're only £170 or something so that's fine for me, the only thing I'm worried about is whether or not I need to transfer my data in a special way or anything.

I just ordered an MX518 mouse, as my G7 has been borked for awhile now, and if I'm getting back into an MMO I want to be able to click target ^^. May upgrade it to a Sidewinder X8 in a few months, but the MX518 is a very nice mouse for the price.
Posted 1 year ago # | -
I own both the Logitech MX518 and the Microsoft SideWinder X8, the latter is my current mouse in fact. I was planning to write a review on the X8 as it's a product that catches many people's eye, but this was when my PC was still dead.

Did not realize there where Xbox 360s without HDMI ports. If you get an Elite I thought there was a cable you had to get, to be able to transfer your data. When I first put my Xbox on 1080 it was amazing, I would like to play FFXIII just to see the amazing GFX and set pieces but the actually gameplay does not instrest me.
This is my TV: http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/lcd/samsung_le40a686.htm
Tried to find it on the samsung site but there site is awful, you would think a large company like them would have a good website which does not freeze up or just suck.

Basically, all the new 360s have HDMI ports now, it's just the early models that didn't come with it until the Elite was launched. Hell, that's one of the main reasons the Elite launched anyways, it's because websites started reporting that unlike PS3, the 360 wasn't 'true HD', and so Microsoft countered that with the Elite. Now that everyone expects 'true HD' from their consoles, Microsoft has given HDMI functionality to all their SKUs.
I'm ordering an Xbox 360 Arcade today, since all I need is the console. Normally, I would indeed need to use the Data Transfer cable, which you're only allowed to use once every 12 months, but I'm not moving my data from one HDD to another, I'm just taking my HDD out of the 360 and putting it into a new one, so all I need to deal with is the DRM, which can be sorted out via Xbox.com.
The cool thing is, I now have a spare TV and soon a spare Xbox 360. Can anyone say System Link?

I seem to recall the 360 isn't true 1080p anyway - it just upscales.

My new HDTV apparently supports 1080p via Component, so I may not need to bother with HDMI at all. I'm going to give Component a try tonight, and if it's pleasing enough to my eyes, I'll not bother with HDMI or a new SKU.

That was quite informative, cheers for that. I guess the Arcade SKU + HDMI cable is what I need then. Not willing to sacrifice that kind of quality when I just invested in a new TV because I wanted <i>higher</i> quality.

bought a copy of Monster Hunter 3 ( trii ) for my Wii i got as my birthday present. I higly recomend it for any one of you who owns a Wii. However, it ain't for low skilled players at third person games. It is really hard and not noob friendly like MW2. I have played almost enery single monster hunter game and this one is by far the hardest one!

Thinking about ordering the Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro, which costs £150. They're in-ear headphones and seem to be getting crazy amounts of praise by audiophiles. My Sennheisers are starting to show some wear & tear, so I decided to upgrade to something of even higher quality whilst I was on the lookout for new headphones.
At first I was worried about in-ear headphones, but now I can't do without them. The noise cancellation is just too fucking awesome, and I use public transport every single day. They're also extremely compact and tend to provide the best sound quality due to how little the sound leaks out. I have many over-ear and on-ear headphones, but these are best kept indoors as they are either too bulky, too ugly or too noisy to use in public (I don't want people hearing me listen to whacky game/anime soundtracks).
I'm sure some of you are still in the boat I used to be in, where you want some high quality earphones but the in-ear models feels really weird. Trust me, it just takes a few days to get used to them, and that's definitely worth the improved noise-cancelling and sound quality you'll experience. Hopefully these SuperFi Pros will big a significant improvement over my old earphones.

I bought a set of expensive in ear 'phones a while back, but the cabels on my headhpones always break so it was a very short lived pleasure to listen to them. I do prefer in ear headphones though, I haven't used any other for my ipod/PSP in years.
