So, I finally got around to downloading Firefox on this computer. Don't know how i've been able to use IE for so long.
I'm looking to set up my RSS Feeds again, but for 1, I can't remeber what decent ones I had before, and 2, I simply can't be arsed to find them again. What feeds do you guys use for subjects like Video Games, Movies, Music and other Media related news?
Eh, I have 120+ feeds, roughly 70 of those are from gaming sites. They range from developer blogs to the latest free indie game downloads. That's just my obsessive desire to try and learn everything that's going on in the industry, so no need to go that overkill unless you have a reason for it.
I suggest picking one major gaming site (GameSpot, 1UP, IGN etc.)and one major gaming blog (Destructoid, Kotaku, Joystiq etc.) for your gaming news. Also, get the GameTrailers RSS feed so you can see a list of all the latest videos, I find this feed very useful for keeping track of such things.
I'll give you some examples of mine just to get you started. Since I dabble in Warhammer, I'm subscribed to Librarium Online's RSS feed, which surprisingly, doesn't get updated all too ofte. I'm also subscribed to some Lego blogs which showcase the latest mecha designs made from Lego, some of them are incredible. I also like to subscribe to my friends' blogs, whether they be on Blogger, LiveJournal or WordPress, because it lets me keep up with them without having to remember to visit their sites.

Yeah, at the moment I currently have: IGN, Ars Technica, Major Nelson and Destructoid in my Video Games feed. Then things like Empire, IGN and Comingsoon.net for my movie news. I'll add the Gametrailers feed in a bit.
BTW, do you use any add-ons to help keep track of your feeds? I'm currently using the Brief add-on, which is pretty decent.
I've not tried any add-ons, no. I use Google Reader for my feeds, and I have iGoogle set to my homepage so the first thing I see on my browser is a list of the latest feeds, the weather, any upcoming events from my calendar and so on.
I tend to avoid using a browser as a feed reader. I use Google Reader as well, and am awaiting for some progress on this news post http://lifehacker.com/5326722/feeddemon-netnewswire-to-sync-exclusively-with-google-reader
So why do you avoid browser based readers? Just a preference thing, or is there some big advantage to using desktop ones which I'm not aware of yet? I used to use FeedDemon, but ended up going back to Google Reader again.
Well - I prefer a web-based reader because it uses less system resources - as it's external to your computer and therefore polls from what ever server it is running on. It also allows you to access your RSS feeds from multiple locations (I know FeedDemon does that whole synchronising thing - but they've moved to Google Reader now anyway) - and, should something go wrong with your computer, or the server storing your RSS feeds, you can pretty much guarantee a backup will be in place.
I could probably go on into more technical reasons...
You said you didn't like browser-based readers, so I thought you meant you didn't like web-based ones and instead used desktop readers. I think web readers like Google Reader are the way to go since you can log in from any place easily.
