About time I made a topic for this. So fuck all that, Akuma is confirmed in SFIV, and unlike in SFIII, he has EX moves. Here's a

    No Parrying -

VideoGamer.com got together with Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter 4's producer, for an interview.

They asked some really good questions, and ended up putting together one heck of a piece. Ono covers a lot of subjects that are close to the hearts of many Street Fighter players. Definitely worth your time.

    Here's a splice.

VideoGamer.com: Why did you make the decision to remove parrying for Street Fighter IV?

YO: I didn't want to create an entertainment video game as such. I wanted Street Fighter IV to be a tool for the people to use and enjoy themselves. I often use the analogy of a chess game. Chess can be played by the American or Russian champion, if you like. We can see them playing chess on live TV and so on. The parrying system is that level. It's quite hard for the vast majority to master. But chess can be played by grandpa and grand kids on a Sunday afternoon. I want Street Fighter IV to be a tool for everyone to enjoy, therefore deliberately I didn't include the parrying system. But you know we carried on with the focus attack and such. Basically we used the rule book from Street Fighter II because that was the most popular.

They should of at least kept a available option to be able to have "parrying system" in the game modes, for the current fans/pros of SF.

I understand they want to keep it at a level normal level were its easy to get into for first starters, I still see parrying as a tool for mindgames which still leads to loads of set-ups, combos etc. Taking out that system was unfair to fans, even tho the game can be played with out parrying. Parry system makes it more entertaining and fun to play and watch, also shows the skill level compared to other opponents you are playing with.

    You finally registered, welcome.

I'm not too fussed about there being no parries. If you look at the pros, those guys parry roughly 40% of attacks during an attack, this will easily annoy a beginner during a match. I don't think removing parries is unfair to fans either, let's not go completely judging such things until we pick up the controller and play some matches on it. Ono is trying to pull a Sakurai by making SFII more accessible for everyone. Ono's excuse for this is simple, he wants both newcomers (young players) and pros (your dad who used to rinse this game 20 years ago) to find common ground in SFIV. This is evident in the game's new 3D visuals with cutscenes for supers, yet still retaining SFII style gameplay.

The good news just keeps rolling in...

    Quote:
As previously mentioned, Akuma was unlocked as a playable character in some Street Fighter 4 arcade machines today.

Early reports have him most closely resembling his SF3: Third Strike version. We've posted his move list which is now part of our SF4 strategy guide.

Most resembling his 3S version, meaning you guys are going to get fucked up when SFIV hits shelves.

Oh and this also seemed interesting...

    Quote:
Capcom's Sven has offered up more details on the home releases of Street Fighter 4.

    • They're still investigating the possibility of letting PC and XBox 360 players fight each other online.

    • The PC release of SF4 will trail the console versions by a few months.

    • Releasing via Steam is a possibility, but it's not part of their current agreement with Valve.

    • When the XBox 360 version is complete, it will run better and faster than the arcade release.

    • PC owners will be able to crank up the settings if they have better hardware.

    • The arcade version uses a dual core processor and a Geforce 7900 GS.

Well Street fighter 4 will be released in the UK on 20th of Feb, I' am eager to play it and use the new system.

    The SF IV System Guide

    ^^^^ worth looking at.

So I already pre-ordered the, collectors edition from http://www.play.com

    # Limited Edition figurines of all-time favourite character Ryu and the all-new character Crimson Viper, positioned within the familiar settings of the 'crowded Chinese downtown'

    # A bonus disc containing a feature length HD quality anime movie, created specially for the launch of Street Fighter IV and a selection of the best game trailers to date

As I've stated to people numerous times, I no longer purchase special editions of games. I also rarely pre-order a game unless it is something I'm a complete fanboy over. The only game that has such an effect on me is Zone of the Enders, so there you go. I'll be picking up SFIV in the standard edition a few days after launch assuming everything goes to plan. If I'm skint or busy playing other games, I might not buy it near launch.

Never been a fan of SF, or any game of the genre. That said I love the visual style of SFIV, looks incredible.

I kind of wish they made more use of those ink effects from the teaser trailer. I had a blast with this game at the MCM Expo, looking forward to picking it up at some point.

Well my friends, only three days remain before this game's release. Should I expect to see any Zetzio members joining in the carnage? It's £30 at Gameplay so take the risk guys, the more people playing with me the better. :]

Sweet. Are you getting it on launch day or at some point later? It's been receiving really positive reviews on Metacritic already and as I've played it personally I'm glad it's a game I can get hyped up over because I already know I can't be disappointed by something I've already experienced.

Seeing as a few members of the community have the game now, I'll post a few useful websites on improving your abilities with the character of your choice. EventHubs is a good start for gathering basic knowledge on the gameplay mechanics, terms and character moves/combos. The two biggest fighting game communities are also a great resource, with Shoryuken being the biggest in the US and Neo Empire being the most popular in the UK. It's definitely worth noting Shoryuken's Wiki for various major fighting games as it was a great resource for me. I almost forgot to mention David Sirlin's tutorial videos, most of his advice applies to all fighting games so it's worth watching them if you want to be a bit more pro.

I was thinking of getting this at Easter but I would need a Hori stick as well. Where did you get your's Nemphtis?

You don't need one, the moves can be performed just as well on a controller. Sticks are just for if you want to play seriously.

You can get arcade sticks from all kinds of online stores such as Amazon. As Jamie said they are not a requirement, you should worry about getting SF4 first, then if you feel that you're interested in taking it to the next level, you can look into picking up an arcade stick.

I just finished the second hard challenge for Akuma, my god that makes your fingers ache. The third hard challenge was a joke in terms of difficulty, but the fourth one is back to the "OMFG what is the timing!" rage.

Jamie, you've gotten better since we last played a few days ago. We were laughing because when I told Kritikal during your fight that you were new to the game, we saw how his face turned all serious because he didn't want to lose to a noob, and he did which was pretty lulzome. Keep practicing those throws and you're still not using that green hand and spin attack enough. I know I said this before but it's seriously the best and most boring way to learn, go into training mode and just repeat the green hand over and over and over until it sticks.

Yeah, i've been playing player matches and a few ranked matches whenever I get some spare time. I can pull of the Banishing Flat but just not consistently enough to use it more effectively.

Try and learn all your moves so that you can do them nine out of ten times. Trust me, you haven't learned something until you can do it in a real match while under pressure, it's amazing how often I fuck up raging demons when I need them most.

I would rather play serious then fuck around lol but that's just me, had to keep it serious with Zangeif his grab is insane. Yeah Jamie is good considering he just recently picked up the game he just need to get used to the motions of different moves.

    1. Stop jumping so much, ain't going to happen with Zangeif unless at close range with your opponent.

    2. Keep in mind that the spinning move passes through projectiles an is a sorta anti-air move, which can keep you from getting demon fliped from akuma all the time (ahem no names lol).

    3. Keep practicing the " Green Hand " move, very good for pressuring opponents / closing in the gap from spacing / an can also get passed projectiles as well when timed right.

The SF4 training manual which was sent alongside the review discs to journalists has now been released publically as a .PDF file. I'm just flicking through the file now and it's worth downloading for the nifty little story snippets and artwork, check it out.

Because that's exactly why - if i bought the game I'd have to devote lots of time to it so i could get good enough to at least whip jamies ass and then eventually work my way up to you. And i just don't have the time for that at the moment.
