So, quite a few of you have told me that you're interested in getting into Street Fighter, but will be waiting until Super Street Fighter IV to start playing it. This is fine, and if you've decided on this because you don't have any time to spare until Super's launch, it's an understandable strategy. Otherwise, it's not such a great strategy.

If you got into Call of Duty 4 late, you would be at a disadvantage because players have learned the maps, mastered their favourite weapons and prestiged. So you would decide to not bother with COD4 until Modern Warfare 2, where there are new maps, new weapons and everyone starts from LV1.

However, this kind of thinking is not wise when looking at fighting games. You don't learn maps in fighting games, you just learn how to use the characters. Now SSF4 has all the characters from SF4, plus ten new ones. If you pick up SSF4 without playing SF4, you have a lot more characters to master. If you're already familiar with SF4, you just need to master the ten new characters, not the entire roster.

SSF4 is mostly just a patch to further balance the game, there isn't going to be any major gameplay changes and characters aren't having any attacks removed. Everything you know in SF4 will still be valuable information in SSF4.

So if you have the time and money, I suggest you pick up SF4 in preparation for SSF4, it will give you a big advantage.

Just wanted to clear that up for you all.

It's £11 on Gameplay but out of stock.
It's £30 on Play but it is included in a buy 2 games for £25 deal.
It's £18 on Amazon and in stock.

Bumping this one last time since I have no idea who has/hasn't read this.

It'll save you a lot of time/grief, so it's advice worth considering.

Oh and one more thing for those that have never hear my preaching this:

Find a favourite character and stick with them. You will improve much faster by focussing your time on mastering one character instead of playing with several on a frequent basis and just being mediocre with them all. When you play with a character, you have to switch your strategy depending on who your opponent is using so trying to master more than one character will overwhelm you, and degrade your overall performance competitively.
