Zenonia is the iPhones first proper JRPG, and it's pretty much trying to ride on that fact to get sales. I'm one of those people who thinks that games on portable systems should focus on quick bursts of fun so you can get a few games in whilst at the bus stop, a JRPG on the iPhone didn't jump at me much. The game was like £1.29 so I purchased it to give it a spin, and boy was I disappointed.
Zenonia's biggest issue is the game's controls. There is an on-screen movement stick and action buttons, and you use these to control a character who is too fast for his own good. The end result is similar to driving a car blindfolded. This isn't just an annoyance though, it breaks the entire game as combat is in real-time. I had a tendency of walking into an enemy's attack range when trying to avoid it, and accidentally running past enemies when trying to get up close to attack them.
Gritting your teeth about the controls just isn't a worthwhile investment since the story and gameplay weren't exactly drawing me into the game. I think Zenonia would have worked out a lot better if they let you touch a location on the screen to make your character move there, then make combat turn-based so you just select commands. Yes, it slows down the game's pace, but it's a fucking JRPG.
Basically, avoid this game like the plague.
