Zetzio SSF4 tournament

    I'm thinking about doing a little tournament for Super Street Fighter IV which will also involve some simple prizes such as Microsoft Point cards for the first and second place winners. The winner can get 4200 points, and the runner-up can receive 2100. I want to do this tournament when my PC is fixed though, I'll sit out and organise everything, not to mention record every match as a spectator just so we can look back and laugh.

    So, before I start giving this any more thought I'd like to get an estimate on who does and doesn't plan on picking SSF4 up. Just post here letting me know if you've pre-ordered it, if you plan to pick it up in-store when it comes out, or if you have no interest in the game. That way I know if a tournament is viable, and if so, what kind of format I want to use.

    You should try it then Chris. Street Fighter IV is probably quite cheap to buy, especially pre-owned. Fighting games take a lot of skill, and unlike FPS, you don't have to depend on the rest of your team to win, it's purely a one-on-one battle so it's all about individual skill.

    If we can get a decent amount of competitors from the community, and an even amount so that everything is nice and fair, I'll definitely try and organise this. I'm taking my PC to a repair shop in an hour, I'm trying not to have much hope so that I don't come home disappointed today. Even if my PC doesn't work, I'll possibly have my Macbook Pro by then.

    If I can find a fairly cheap copy of SF4 to practice on I'm up for it. Gota have someone for the the decent players to warm up on ^^.

    You're not allowed, same goes for Jason and LJ. Even I'm sitting out of this one to let these guys enjoy a proper competition. With us out of the picture, people won't give up before the tournament has even begun.

    Well fortunately for you, Dizz won't be playing. Your main problem should be Jamie since aside from you, he has spent the most time on SF4 so he will be right at home on SSF4. Also, you never know what kind of tricks others will bring to the table. If someone was using Gen against you for example, I bet you would not know WTF to expect from a Gen player, so keep on your toes.

    If I can find a fairly cheap copy of SF4 to practice on I'm up for it. Gota have someone for the the decent players to warm up on ^^.

    There are no 'decent' players, you will have a decent shot at coming 1st or 2nd as long as you put in a little bit of practice on SF4 before SSF4 is out in March. Your best bet is to check your local game store for a pre-owned copy, they should be about £10-£15 pre-owned, worst case scenario, pick it up online brand new for £18.

    May as well give me those 4200 points now then.

    Assuming your Zangief can handle Matthew's Sagat, among other threats. ;]

    Whats super sf4?

    It's the sequel, or 'expansion' to Street Fighter IV. It features ten new characters, new online modes, improved net code and buffs/nerfs for various characters to make the playing field more balanced.

    Players interested in a Super Street Fighter IV tournament thus far:

    -Jamie
    -Matthew
    -Anthony
    -Michael

    I require an even number of players to make sure the tournament is as fair as possible. I'm also aiming for a minimum of six players, anything less will feel too short or boring. The challenge here is not finding six players, but finding six players that are beginner level at the game.

    You'll definitely get your money's worth for £10. Like I said; when it arrives just drop me a message or text and I'll play you to provide a decent opponent and sound advice. Will be interesting to see which character you settle on for your main, I was surprised to see Jamie pick Zangief for his one. :]

    Actually I have a new potential idea. I'm considering letting myself and the other hardcores participate in the tournament, but we have to use Dan (intentionally the worst character in the game) and we don't win anything regardless of how far we get in the competition; the next best players will be given the prizes. What do you guys think of this?

    Matthew, you should play Jamie on SF4 to get you back into things. It'll give you both a chance to practice, not to mention you both use a controller and should be around the same skill level if my assumptions are correct.

    Ah, sorry to hear that man. Makes me feel nostalgic thinking you're 18 now, I swear I first met you when you were 13 or 14, jeez. This place has been through a lot of drama, nice to see things nice and tranquil nowadays. We just chill out, have fun and don't take things as seriously as we used to.
