There’s a reason why the fansubs will cease on January 15, and that’s because this is the date when Crunchyroll, Joost and Hulu will begin streaming the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuden only a week after their Japanese broadcast for no cost, as in totally fucking free. Dattebayo have never received a single cease-and-desist letter regarding their Naruto fansubs, and they’ve decided to stop the fansubbing by their own free will to help support this new trend where video sites subtitle and stream anime for free. Those of you who like Dattebayo’s subtitles needn’t worry either, as they’ll be looking into subbing a new anime at some point. I quite like the idea of YouTube style websites legally subbing brand new anime episodes for free, let’s hope this trend catches on with other shows too.
