Part of the reason why I haven’t updated a lot recently is due to Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. I picked this up for the PC last week and have been hooked ever since. Red Alert 2 has a lot of special memories for me and I was very relieved to see that EA hadn’t butchered the game or the great soundtrack for that matter. Now you too can give it a spin via the marketplace as the demo features one campaign mission for the Soviets and Allies along with an interactive tutorial. It’s a shame they didn’t let you play online multiplayer as they had with the Tiberium Wars demo, but hey it’s better than nothing.

I played the demo on live and if I was going to get it I would get it for the PC. Trying to use all the special powers of the units at the same time was to hard on a controller. The GFX seem very poor on xbox and the gameplay just seems a bit old. Which is good for fans of RA2 which I was but I much prefer the relic style of RTS games now.
I'll continue with my "RTS games are meant for the PC" opinion, I think. I've not yet played this on the PC, though…
I picked it up on PC and I've not had any regrets about it. After being annoyed with Tiberium Wars on my 360, I didn't want to be disappointed with fiddly controls a second time. I sure hope Halo Wars breaks this cycle and turns out to be an RTS that works well on the console.
Cool. Did you grab it in a store or on Steam? Perhaps we could sort out some multiplayer when I get my hands on it?
Grabbed it from the store across my home. To be honest I've not played it at all lately, but I'd be up for some online matches for sure. I believe the reason I took a break from it was due to the online multiplayer having numerous issues; fingers crossed they've sorted that out with a patch now though.
I was always just fond of multiplayer skirmish matches. I hosted a LAN party once where we had a hack installed for the game which seperated the map into four squares, so that none of the players could interact. After 36 hours of building, we opened up the map and let carnage take place. It was so much fun, and obviously hectic. We actually had to open up the server case and put fans on it to help cool it, due to the amount it had to record (we decided to try and Fraps the whole thing as well, which turned out to be a complete disaster)…
