I’m posting this mainly for those who visit 1UP, else the news doesn’t really interest me all that much as I’m not a regular reader of theirs. Ziff Davis recently sold the 1UP Network to their competitor Hearst’s UGO Entertainment. It seems many 1UP staff were let go, and Electronic Gaming Monthly has been completely shut down.
The 1UP Network comprises of 1UP.com, Mycheats.com, Gametab.com and the video site I hate the most because it streams like a bitch – Gamevideos.com. Along with the EGM staff who were let go, some key 1UP staff were also thrown out. This may affect the 1UP podcast, which is the only aspect of the network that I really enjoyed frequenting. So if you’re a regular reader of the network and notice that things are slow or something, at least you know why.
Oh shit, I just remembered they’re also the ones who make Broken Pixels. Man, that show better keep going since it’s hilarious. Personally I’ve never even given a second glance at UGO so I don’t know how they operate, but that show better not be affected by the job cuts.
