I’m sure you’ve all laid your eyes upon the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer debut trailer, if not then you can watch it after the jump. Yes, Call of Duty 4 is old news to many people. Some of you have probably upgraded to World at War, others are probably anticipating Modern Warfare 2, but it’s still the third most popular game on Xbox Live and probably in the top five on PSN, so it ain’t dead just yet. If you’ve owned COD4 since launch day and still can’t seem to whoop crazy amounts of ass on this game, then you’ll be thanking me every night for this compilation of totally pro tips which shall turn you into a beast. Just posting the backlog of pre-E3 news since I hate leaving things half finished. The E3 related news will have the “E3 2009″ tag, clicking this will filter your content only to E3 related posts. Seeing as that’s out of the way now, let’s talk about the new trailer. There’s a lot more on display here, and I keep wondering if every weapon I see is actually going to be unlockable in multiplayer, and how they’ll actually feel in battle. Singleplayer is just a one-time experience for me usually, it’s the multiplayer that keeps me putting that disc in over and over when it comes to FPS games, so let’s hope we see some multiplayer gameplay at E3!

They are going to drip-feed this shit to us, god damn it. The third teaser is just as much of a tease as the previous ones. It gives you a tiny bit of gameplay, and many moments where you want to replay a scene to see if you just saw something that was going to be a new feature. The scene where he’s on that snow-mobile in first person is scaring me to death, because it could mean they’re adding vehicles like World at War. I really, really hated the vehicles in World at War so if they put them in Modern Warfare 2 I am going to rage on the internet.

A user from the Giant Bomb forums posted these scans for the upcoming Game Informer exclusive on the much anticipated Modern Warfare 2. Nearly all of the focus is on the single-player aspect, but I’ll take whatever I can get for now as I’m sure you’ll agree. I guess it goes without saying that we can expect some snowy maps on multiplayer this time around, which is fine by me if I can pop out of the snow and shank an unsuspecting enemy in the FACE. We’re a relatively unknown blog so hopefully Activision won’t notice the scans up on here any time soon. They’ve already had them removed from the Giant Bomb forums.

The whole teaser was a blur to me except the part where the soldier was wielding a Steyr AUG, which has been a fairly underused weapon since the last time I remember seeing it prominently was in Counter-Strike. Actually, I think I may have seen it in Ghost Recon too, but don’t quote me on that. The second map pack for Call of Duty: World at War will be available this June, and it’s dragging a horde of Japanese zombies along with it. As with the first map pack, this one does more than merely add a new zombie level. Three new multiplayer maps will be included; Banzai, Corrosion and Sub Pens.  These maps revolve around a river bridge, a train yard and a CQC environment respectively. The new zombie map is called ‘Shi No Numa’, meaning Zombie Swamp. You’ll once again have access to traps and perks to keep the zombies at bay, plus the new Wunderwaffe DG-2. As a final touch, there are ten achievements/trophies to unlock for your whoring pleasure, so have fun with that.

GDC didn’t have a large number of announcements that interested me, but the few they had were intriguing to say the least. The last of these announcements was the first Modern Warfare 2 teaser, and more importantly the worldwide release date for the game – 11/10/09. As if that wasn’t enough, BingeGamer has begun dissecting the teaser for clues, and their results are quite interesting. Shown as a world exclusive by GameTrailers, it didn’t take long for the video to get uploaded onto YouTube. The upcoming downloadable content will bring a new zombie map plus three new multiplayer versus maps. There’s no solid date for these yet, all we know is that’s they’re coming sometime in March 2009, so very soon basically. Also I can’t see any mention of pricing but I doubt they’re going to give these away for free so don’t hold your breath.

A new patch was released on Xbox Live and PSN yesterday which bought a new downloadable map with its arrival. The map is basically just a daylight version of the Makin map, but it’s free for everyone so don’t sulk too much. PSN users will get the map when they download the patch, where as Xbox Live users need to access the DLC section of World at War and download it manually. I traded in World at War so I can’t take advantage of this generosity, but funny thing is I always thought Makin was annoying since it was too dark when fighting most of the time. I actually turned up my TV brightness, which I haven’t had to do in a game for a long-ass game.
