Epic’s Mark Rein posted some information regarding a second title update to Gears of War 2 on the official forums. This one will mainly be addressing all the annoying glitches that have plagued the multiplayer. The update will also be adding new achievements focussed on the downloadable content packs and apparently ‘enhance achievement tracking in-game and in the war journal’. There isn’t a solid date set for when this update will go online, but I doubt we’ll be waiting too long. Then again, that’s what I said about the Castle Crashers patch and look what fucking happened with that… Hit the jump to see Mark’s full post.

The first Gears of War 2 patch was recently released which supposedly fixes the waiting times for matchmaking sessions. That alone would have been a good enough fix, but EPIC have also said the patch will improve how stats are collected for Gears of War dot com, plus resolve an issue where players couldn’t access campaign when Xbox Live was down.

I haven’t had a chance to check the patch out myself yet, so if you’ll be on it today drop a comment with how much of a difference this new patch makes to matchmaking times. Considering that there was a time where I waited 30 minutes for a Wingman match and it couldn’t find enough players, I’m not going to smile until I see the improvements with my own eyes.

Epic has shared some very intriguing statistics with the community and I believe they’re interesting enough to post up for you guys. One piece of info that caught my eye is the fact that the Shotgun is the most lethal weapon in the game with the most kills. Considering how every fucking noob is crying their ass off over how weak it is, you’d think it wouldn’t be so frequently used. Apparently the Lancer is too strong, so why isn’t everyone whoring that instead of sticking with the shotgun they believe is so weak? I detect large amounts of bullshit. Yup, roughly thirteen minutes of blood-soaked gameplay footage. If you’ve not been keeping track of the game much then these two videos will bring you up to date on everything. The first video is an interview where they show off all the currently announced maps and gameplay modes, while the second video is just pure in-game footage of people blowing shit up. So stop reading this and start watching.

Sorry guys, but it looks like GameTrailers removed the two new videos from their website. After doing a super quick internet search I couldn’t find it on GameVideos either, so I’m assuming EPIC wasn’t planning to show them to us just yet. However, to make it up to you I’ve posted up the new Wartime Interview video. I’ll edit this post again if I find the full videos I originally posted.

Now that E3 is upon us Microsoft have not only released the videos I originally intended to post, but a new trailer and some more gameplay footage! Below I have enough videos to get any Zetzio member excited (don’t quote me on that). So, starting from the new E3 trailer all the way down to the gameplay montages and map fly-throughs, it begins now.

Wow, if it wasn’t for the fact you can now use Locust as human shields, I’d argue that this was the original Gears of War. So what’s new from the gameplay footage? It seems Marcus is using a new pistol, and also curb stomps might have been removed in favour of hostage taking. I don’t have much else to say about this since this video didn’t grab me at all. I’ll probably get hyped once Epic shows me how much they’ve polished the multiplayer aspect of the game this time around, which is where I expect to see the biggest improvements.
