Just a heads up for those of you who aren’t on holiday, you can expect Soulcalibur to crash into XBLA tomorrow for 800 Microsoft points. I’d be excited, but I’m piss poor so I’ll have to stick with Street Fighter until I can afford such luxuries. Still, I’m sure the rest of you have a bit of cash floating about, so at least be sure to check out the trial and see why this is regarded as one of the best beat’em ups, or dare I say it, best videogames of all time. By the way, looks like the game supports online versus if the official Xbox page is anything to go by.

The post title says it all but let me get the bad news out of the way ASAP — the multiplayer is not online compatible, so online leaderboards are all you’ll get unfortunately. The good news is that the first Soul Calibur is coming to XBLA in high definition and with all of the original game modes intact. As far as I’m aware, there are no HD screenshots released at the moment, but I’ll post them up when they’re out in the wild. The port is from the Dreamcast version, and not the arcade version that was apparently frowned upon back in the day. No word yet on pricing or release date.
